Ramon Allones Gigantes
Description
Brand Story
In 1846, two brothers of Galician origin, Ramon and Antonio Allones, launched this label, which was the first to decorate its cigar boxes with vistas (representing the coat of arms of the House of Spain), manufactured in a Havana workshop called La Eminencia. Ramon Allones was a true innovator, who made Havana a symbol of luxury. The firm owned one of the finest fincas in the Vualta Abajo, El Corojo, in the village of San Luis. From 1903 to 1905, Ramon, along with his brother Antonio, led the Front du Refus organised by some of the island's landowners to resist the American Tobacco Company, but he was forced to sell the brand in 1911 to British investors, the Hunters company. As a result, England gained exclusive worldwide rights to market the brand. In 1932, Ramon Allones came under the control of the Cifuentes family (Partagas), but the United Kingdom retained a monopoly on the brand. For a long time, Ramon Allones cigars could only be found in England.
