Brand Story

The history of Balvenie is closely linked to that of other distilleries. It all began in 1892 in Dufftown when John and William Grant decided, after having built Glenfiddich not far away, to build a second distillery. You will have understood, she will be named Balvenie. The distillery has always belonged to the same company since its creation: William Grant and Sons. Balvenie’s reputation is that of a distillery of absolute classicism. It's hard to find a Balvenie that's bad, just as it was difficult at one time to find a version that was off the beaten track. A new range in place for two years has changed the situation and today The Balvenie has a new face.

Product Detail

This whiskey was first matured in traditional oak barrels, before being transferred to ex-rum barrels for an indefinite post-maturation period. David C. Stewart selects these rum barrels himself, filled with a blend of sugar cane spirits from the West Indies, and waits until the wood has absorbed the ideal amount of aromas. What ultimately happens with the rum remains a secret, but the resulting whiskey is promising. It smells like sugar cane, pineapple, papaya, coconut, caramel and vanilla. The taste of Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 Years is creamy and fruity, but quite dry and salty with aromas of oak wood.
