Brand Story
Saint Luis Rey was created on the eve of the Second World War. Some claim that the brand owes its name to Thornton Wilder's play ‘The Bridge of San Luis Rey’. However, it is far more likely that the name refers to the town of San Luis, in the heart of the ‘Vuelta Abajo’ region, which is particularly famous for the quality of its cape leaves.
Whatever the case, Habanos de San Luis Rey enjoy an undisputed reputation among connoisseurs, who are seduced by the fullness of its aromas. Its ligada (blend) is made from leaves grown in the ‘Vuelta Abajo’ and ‘Semi Vuelta’ regions.Trinidad is one of the most prestigious brands of Habanos. The brand was created in 1969 and, like Cohiba, remained an exclusive gift for diplomats and foreign dignitaries for many years. In 1998, the brand was commercialised. The Trinidad brand is aimed above all at Habanos lovers looking for absolute quality with an exclusive character.
Description
Description
When lit, the Regios develops a strong aroma of coffee and cedar wood. The draw is precise and produces a good volume of smoke. The taste is dominated by earthy notes of cinnamon, nutmeg and light spices, which combine harmoniously. As the smoke progresses, creamy tones and white pepper emerge, completing the complex flavour profile. The medium to strong Saint Luis Rey Regios is suitable for both experienced aficionados and beginners looking for a multi-faceted smoking experience.Launched in 2004 and retired after eight years, this vitola left a lasting mark on cigar lovers. In 2024, Habanos S.A. revived it for the Trinidad brand’s 55th anniversary during the Habanos World Days in London. Presented in elegant boxes of three, the cigars feature three bands, including a commemorative anniversary band and the iconic “T” foot band. The medium-bodied Robusto Extra measures 6 1/8” by 50 ring gauge, with a signature pigtail cap. Hand-rolled with select Vuelta Abajo leaves, it preserves the classic, aromatic character of the original.
