Brand Story
It was in Havana, in 1935, that Alonso Menendez, from a long line of merchants, founded the Montecristo brand in reference to Alexandre Dumas' hero. It seems that the torcedores particularly enjoyed having these adventures read to them while they worked. The Menendez family soon bought the Particulares factory, followed by the H.Upmann factory in 1937. Montecristo's success has never waned, the brand maintaining both tradition and modernity, with the launch of limited and relevant editions. In 2009, a range of milder, more modern cigars, called Open, was launched in Havana.
Product Detail
The Montecristo Open range is expanding! The new Montecristo Open Slam joins the series as the fifth format. Measuring 142 mm in length with a large 52 ring gauge, it carries the production name “Idilicos,” bringing a fresh breeze to this range known for its lighter tobacco blend.
The Slam also marks the first appearance of a redesigned look. The cigar box is now dark green. For the first time, a new band adorns the Montecristo Open line, complemented by a second band bearing the name “Slam.” This new elegant design will also soon be available for the four usual formats: Eagle, Master, Regata, and Junior.
