It was in Havana, in 1935, that Alonso Menendez, from a long line of merchants, founded the Montecristo brand in reference to Alexandre Dumas' hero. It seems that the torcedores particularly enjoyed having these adventures read to them while they worked. The Menendez family soon bought the Particulares factory, followed by the H.Upmann factory in 1937. Montecristo's success has never waned, the brand maintaining both tradition and modernity, with the launch of limited and relevant editions. In 2009, a range of milder, more modern cigars, called Open, was launched in Havana.Trinidad is one of the most prestigious brands of Habanos. The brand was created in 1969 and, like Cohiba, remained an exclusive gift for diplomats and foreign dignitaries for many years. In 1998, the brand was commercialised. The Trinidad brand is aimed above all at Habanos lovers looking for absolute quality with an exclusive character.

On the palate, this Montecristo Especial is extremely strong, with a bouquet of aromas typical of Montecristo cigars. The vitola's combustibility is very good, but its small circumference makes it slightly resistant to drawing. The cigar is characterised by a particularly copious, rich and imposing earthy aroma. The strength of this aroma is slightly tempered by a creamy cocoa flavour. This earthy aroma is perceptible from the very first smoke.Launched in 2004 and retired after eight years, this vitola left a lasting mark on cigar lovers. In 2024, Habanos S.A. revived it for the Trinidad brand’s 55th anniversary during the Habanos World Days in London. Presented in elegant boxes of three, the cigars feature three bands, including a commemorative anniversary band and the iconic “T” foot band. The medium-bodied Robusto Extra measures 6 1/8” by 50 ring gauge, with a signature pigtail cap. Hand-rolled with select Vuelta Abajo leaves, it preserves the classic, aromatic character of the original.
