Kavalan Solist Sherry Cask Whisky
Kavalan Solist Sherry Cask Whisky
Description
Brand Story
The distillery was founded in April 2005 by the King Car Group, one of the largest producers of food and beverages in Taiwan. With over 30 years of experience in brewing beer, at some point it was time to process beer into whisky. The Scottish coppersmith Forsyths in Rothes supplied the 4 pot stills. Other equipment includes a mash tun and eight stainless steel fermentation vats. Optic unpeated malt is mainly sourced from Baird's of Inverness in Scotland. The water comes from the Snow Mountains in Taiwan. Dr. Swan from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh is an internationally recognized expert in fermentation and distillation. The new make is primarily stored in ex-bourbon barrels from Kentucky. The significantly warmer and more humid climate in Taiwan allows the whisky to mature more quickly than in Europe and the angels are also significantly thirstier with an angel's share of 15-18% annually.
Product Detail
Kavalan Solist Sherry Cask is a premium whisky from Taiwan. It is matured in Oloroso Spanish sherry casks, which give it its intense flavour and colour. This single malt is a smooth, very rich whisky with a complex character. As with the other members of the Solist series, these are single cask limited bottlings, marked with a cask and bottle number. The alcohol content therefore varies slightly (50-60% vol.).
