Description
Brand Story
Twenty-six of Scotland's 111 operating distilleries have the word 'Glen' in their name. It is the English name for a valley or a valley between two mountains: no wonder so many distilleries in the Speyside area and the Highlands are named after it. Glenglassau is not in a valley, but it is in a lowland area, a five-minute walk from "Sanden Bay", and would almost be a rainforest if it weren't for its cool, windy and rainy climate. The Beach. Nestled among picturesque grain fields, the brewery was built in 1874, closed in 1908, reopened in 1931, closed again in 1936, and opened again in 1960. 1986, fate struck the brewery's operations for the last time, and it was closed, this time until 2008. Today, Glenglasso is part of the Benriac Brewery. Despite a rather turbulent history, these spirits have been able to mature calmly and as a result these 30, 40 and 51 year old whiskies have become an integral part of today's collection. Portsoy was inspired by the beach near the distillery. It was stored in bourbon, sherry and port casks, which over time developed a strong coastal character and peaty flavor.

Palate : Chocolatey malt supports grilled pineapple and treacle toffee, while that sticky soy and smoky peat tangle beneath.
Finish : Maritime peat smoke drifts softly alongside peppery oak, stewed berries, charred tropical fruits, and rich oak. Seaweed, salted liquorice, and dark chocolate-coated salted almonds linger.
