Brand Story
Glenfiddich is the world's most awarded single malt Scotch whisky. The fifth generation of the family business, Glenfiddich retains the innovative character of its founder, William Grant, and continues to surprise the world with new modern whiskies. The distillery was founded in 1886 by William Grant and is still family-owned today. As the family did not have much money, they built up the distillery on their own. The equipment was bought second-hand (partly from the Cardhu distillery). The first whisky flowed at Glenfiddich in 1887. The distillery flourished, but was badly hit by the bankruptcy of a major customer in 1898. However, Glenfiddich survived on its own, as William Grant began to produce blended whiskies. The distillery always remained family-owned and was one of the few distilleries to survive during the two world wars.
Product Detail
Glenfiddich Grand Château is a 31 year-old whisky for which the distillery has used red wine casks from the Bordeaux region for the first time, in which the liquid has been aged for an extended period of nine years.
The whisky was aged in American oak before being stored for nine years in extraordinary Bordeaux red wine casks from the French wine region, to celebrate a new fusion of flavours. The nine-year finish adds layer upon layer of new and unexpected aromas. Caramelised cherries and apples intertwine with warm spices and toasted oak to create an opulent taste that is earthy, fruity and floral.
