Brand Story

Glenfiddich is the world's most awarded single malt Scotch whisky. The fifth generation of the family business, Glenfiddich retains the innovative character of its founder, William Grant, and continues to surprise the world with new modern whiskies. The distillery was founded in 1886 by William Grant and is still family-owned today. As the family did not have much money, they built up the distillery on their own. The equipment was bought second-hand (partly from the Cardhu distillery). The first whisky flowed at Glenfiddich in 1887. The distillery flourished, but was badly hit by the bankruptcy of a major customer in 1898. However, Glenfiddich survived on its own, as William Grant began to produce blended whiskies. The distillery always remained family-owned and was one of the few distilleries to survive during the two world wars.

Product Detail

The term ‘Grand Cru’ is generally associated with wines. It indicates that the grapes used come from the best growing areas. Now it's the Scots who are making it their own. Glenfiddich launched this 23-year-old single malt whisky in 2019, a testament to its high quality. But what makes whisky so special? The grain spirit first undergoes a basic maturation in European and American casks. It then spends a maximum of six months in French cuvée casks. The champagne undergoes its first fermentation in these containers, which are still relatively unknown to the Scottish industry, before being bottled.
