Description
Brand Story
Founded in 1891 by Francisco Fonseca, the brand was manufactured in a small factory on rue Dragones in Havana. It was sung by the poet Federico Garcia Lorca: ‘I'll go to Santiago with the blond head of a Fonseca...’. Francisco Fonseca was responsible for wrapping the cigar in a thin sheet of Japanese paper. He also had the idea of creating a tasting room in his factory to test the blends chosen by his customers. Fonseca also specialised in making cigars for banquets, receptions, clubs, etc.
Product Detail
For many, No. 1 is the flagship product of the Fonseca brand. It's not just the format that suggests this, but also the aromatic structure. The typical earthy, woody notes are supported by a light, pleasant sweetness reminiscent of fruit and honey. The strength is slightly more pronounced than that of the Delicias or Cosacos, but still within the average range. The variety of aromas is very manageable and, as with all Fonseca cigars, pleasantly differentiated. A perfect entry-level cigar.
