Quai d'Orsay is a brand designed specifically for the French market. Created in the 1970s, it takes its name from the famous quays along the Seine in Paris. All its vitolas, which are designed to be light, are made from a combination of leaves from the Vuelta Abajo region and dressed in Claro (wax) or Colorado Claro (light brown) capes. All are Totalmento a Mano, Trip Larga (entirely handmade, long filler).

The Quai d'Orsay Corona was available in two versions, Coronas Claro and Coronas Claro Claro. The name behind ‘Coronas’ refers to the colour of the packaging, which in the first case means Colorado Claro (chestnut brown) and in the second case ‘Clarissimo’, which means almost green. However, the second version has disappeared over time. The Quai d'Orsay Corona Claro pampers smokers with pleasant cocoa flavours, combined with woody notes and earthy tones. It is exceptionally mild for a Cuban cigar, making it ideal for beginners.

Alongside the other three Cohiba lines, there is the Behike line, which differs from the other Cohiba cigars in that it uses a 6th type of leaf: the ‘Medio Tiempo’. The ‘Medio Tiempo’ is an extremely rare leaf that grows only on certain tobacco plants and has the particularity of developing a stronger aromatic power than the ‘ligero’. Behike is primarily reserved for connoisseurs and is easily identifiable thanks to a ring that differs from other Cohiba varieties. The leaves destined for the Cohiba brand are the ‘crème de la crème’ of the five Vegas Finas de Primera, the best plantations in the San Juan y Martinez and San Luis regions. These two sites are both located in the Vuelta Abajo, the region par excellence for tobacco production.
