Brand Story

The history of Martell dates back to the 18th century, when its founder, Jean Martell, left his native Jersey to try his luck in France. Specialising in the brandy trade, the entrepreneur settled in Cognac. Through contact with the region's winegrowers, he learned about the specific characteristics of the terroir and the secrets of the production process for the famous eau-de-vie. This solid experience acquired over the years has built the heritage of Martell, a family house renowned for its authentic cognacs of exceptional roundness. With its strong local roots, Martell quickly developed an international outlook. In 1783, it became the first cognac house to export its products to the United States. In all, nine generations have succeeded one another at the head of the company, all driven by the same quest: excellence and innovation.

Product Detail

Martell has teamed up with the famous Cuban cigar brand Cohiba to create the ideal cognac for cigar lovers. Martell Cohiba Extra cognac is one of only two cognacs made from aged eaux-de-vie (between 40 and 50 years) from grapes grown in Grande Champagne, the premier cru of the Cognac region. Martell Cohiba Extra Cognac is a delicious cognac with the strength and richness to go perfectly with Cohiba cigars. Intense and complex, it is also a treat for any connoisseur of fine cognac.
