Quai d'Orsay is a brand designed specifically for the French market. Created in the 1970s, it takes its name from the famous quays along the Seine in Paris. All its vitolas, which are designed to be light, are made from a combination of leaves from the Vuelta Abajo region and dressed in Claro (wax) or Colorado Claro (light brown) capes. All are Totalmento a Mano, Trip Larga (entirely handmade, long filler).

The Quai d'Orsay Corona was available in two versions, Coronas Claro and Coronas Claro Claro. The name behind ‘Coronas’ refers to the colour of the packaging, which in the first case means Colorado Claro (chestnut brown) and in the second case ‘Clarissimo’, which means almost green. However, the second version has disappeared over time. The Quai d'Orsay Corona Claro pampers smokers with pleasant cocoa flavours, combined with woody notes and earthy tones. It is exceptionally mild for a Cuban cigar, making it ideal for beginners.

Brand Story
José L. Piedra is a very special brand. Unlike most Habanos, the leaves used to make its vitolas come exclusively from the Vuelta Arriba region.
Originally from Asturias, the Piedra family arrived in Cuba in the 1880s. They settled down and started producing cigars near the town of Santa Clara, in the heart of the Vuelta Arriba region, where tobacco growing had been going on since the 16th century. It was José Lamadrid Piedra, of the second Piedra generation, who was to create and develop the brand as we know it today.
The José L. Piedra vitolas are all made totally by hand, tripa corta.
Product Detail
It's amazing the depth of flavour that the short leaf unfolds in the long format! The intense spiciness offers soft peatiness alongside lighter, spicy coffee aromas and spices; plus quite pronounced, beautiful leather notes. In the background, discreet fermentation is sometimes noticeable. The development is of course, as with all short fillers, quite linear. But the flavour becomes more concentrated puff by puff. All in all, a particularly hearty smoke, tending to be more for experienced smokers.
