The brand's namesake, Hermann Upmann, was the son of a Bremen banker who founded this famous cigar factory in Havana in 1844. After some difficult years, the factory had to be sold in 1937, but today it still guarantees top quality and produces light, medium-sized Havana cigars, with a significant export component. The tobacco comes exclusively from the Vuelta Abajo region. Incidentally, H. Upmann was John F. Kennedy's favourite brand.

The Connaisseur No.2 is a unique vitola within the Habanos portfolio and the first to feature a 51 caliber. The shape is known as Bohemios in Cuban cigar factories. It joins the Connoisseur A, B and No.1 in the standard H. Upmann portfolio, a series launched in 1844.
