It's no coincidence that the brand was launched in the UK in November 1996. Cuaba was officially born out of a gamble by the directors of Habanos SA to revive the fashion for figurados, which were very popular with the British in the 19th century.
Juan Carlos Izqierdo Gonzalez, who was a torcedor for forty-eight years at Romeo y Julieta, was entrusted with the task of training the first professionals in this very special technique. Today, the Romeo y Julieta factory has a special school dedicated to training torcedores for the Cuaba.
