The brand was created in 1969 and, like Cohiba, remained an exclusive gift for diplomats and foreign dignitaries for many years. In 1998, the brand was commercialised. Avo Uvezian worked from the beginning to select the best wrapper leaves from unique seeds and the Ecuadorian sun and combine them with carefully matured tobaccos from the Dominican Republic. The result is Special Toro cigars with rich and complex aromas that flatter the palate in a smooth and balanced way. The heart is creamy with notes of toast, cocoa and a touch of sweet cedar and subtle spices on the finish.Launched in 2004 and retired after eight years, this vitola left a lasting mark on cigar lovers. In 2024, Habanos S.A. revived it for the Trinidad brand’s 55th anniversary during the Habanos World Days in London. Presented in elegant boxes of three, the cigars feature three bands, including a commemorative anniversary band and the iconic “T” foot band. The medium-bodied Robusto Extra measures 6 1/8” by 50 ring gauge, with a signature pigtail cap. Hand-rolled with select Vuelta Abajo leaves, it preserves the classic, aromatic character of the original.
